Family tends to be very important in Brazilian culture. Most families consist of a married couple living in a home with extended relatives near-by or in the home with the couple. Usually the man is considered to have control of the household, but there really are no other gender roles.
Some customs and manners of the people are that every time one visits a home you bring a small gift or flowers. Also, when shaking hands they keep eye contact fully until they have finished.
